Dreamline

Some time ago through the paper list Colette Vosberg sent the following email to the list and started off the dreamline. About 30 people responded to the call so three groups were set up. As each group reaches it's destination I will endeavor to add it to my site. From the bottom of this page you can see group B's dreamline.

Paper Dream Line by Sigrid Schraube

Aborigines believe in dream lines. Lines of energy which covers their land similar to the Chinese meridians on a body. This wonderful idea made me want to start a paper dream line project during the IAPMA congress in Australia. The rules are as follows: You make a square sheet of paper, or use ready-made paper size 20 x 20 cm. (approx. 8 in x 8 in). You incorporate or attach strings on all corners from the edge, so that another square can be tied to the first one. (Diagram shows string laced through or glued to four corners of sheet with 2 pieces of string per corner) On the front of the paper a line should be visible. Painted, drawn, stitched, embossed - whatever you like. The line must enter the square on one side and leave it on another. It may be straight or meandering. Add your name and address to the front side. Now get in contact with another papermaker. Give or send the sheet to papermaker 2. He/she continues the line on either side with her/his paper square, ties the piece to the first one and sends it to the next papermaker. Any order is allowed (diagram shows a single line of sheets tied together or a block of six sheets, two wide tied together). When at least 6 sheets are tied together, papermaker number 6 packs them to a pile, puts them in an envelope, marks it as "gift", "no value" to avoid custom expenses and sends it to: Sigrid Schraube, Theodor Heuss Strasse 6, D-61137 Schoneck, Germany. All entries must be in Germany by December 31, 1999.

Sigrid plans on exhibiting this dream line at the IAPMA conference in 2000.

If anyone is interested in doing this, send your name and address to the list. I live in the Caribbean so let's not limit this to US participants only - if you're a lurker somewhere in the world, now is your chance to come out of the closet! Lets say a deadline to join could be August 8th (if someone thinks it's not long enough, please speak up, I am just making this up as I type along). Once we get all the names, I would put them in the order for receiving and to pass on to the next person and post to the list. A hard copy of the list and addresses would be circulated starting from the first sheet - which would be me. I would keep the master list in case someone deletes or the hard copy gets lost and the recipient person doesn't know where to mail their growing pile of sheets. It would be great if someone would volunteer to be the last participant to do the final mailing to Germany.

If this sounds fun, let me know!
