Christians believe that this Christmas story was told long before his
birth, in the books of profhets. Hundreds of years before the birth of Jesus,
the prophet Micah said,…"But you Bethlehem, though you are small, out of you
will come for me, one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from
of old, from the ancient times." The Birth of Christ is celebrated on December 25th, which of course is
Christmas Day. Christians from around the world believe that Jesus came as a
humble, poor person and not as a strong, rich king. Christians attend special church services, especially on Christmas Eve. The nativity scene, which shows the Baby Jesus in a manger, usually is placed on display. They range from small for the home to very large displays in front of their churches and other town sites.
Traditionally, Christmas songs or carols are sung during the Christmas
celebration. As for the religious carols, two of the most beautifully written
are "Away In A Manger" and "O Holy Night". Through their prayers, worship and inspirational songs, Christians
throughout the world are again reminded that Jesus Christ was sent to redeem
all mankind and to triumph over death. Today, christians are waiting for the
Second Advent: "And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in Heaven, and the
nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the
clouds of the sky with power and great glory."...MATTHEW 24:30-31 For nearly 2,000 years, Christians have lived in the hope of Our Lord's
imminent return. They look forward to the Second Advent-the day when He will
come back.
