Mark Peters, Poet

Peters lives at 130A-2 Garden Village Drive, Cheektowaga NY 14227; his e.mail address is petersm@acsu.buffalo.edu, his phone number (716) 668-5320.

So far he has had two books published: the traitorous dark bananas (Ninth Lab Chapbooks) and Falling Down (The Runaway Spoon Press), and has had work in Antenym, Tinfish, Nedge, Lost & Found Times, The Experioddicist and So Many Roads.

Peters lists the following contemporary poets as important to him: Alice Notely, Charles Bernstein, Jackson Mac Low, Joan Retallack, Bruce Andrews, Mike Basinski, Robert Creeley, Robert Grenier, Hank Lazer, Jake Berry, Bernadette Mayer and Kenneth Goldsmith, and has a high regard for Emily Dickinson, Basho, John Donne, Ted Berrigan, Allen Ginsberg, William Carlos Williams, E.E. Cummings and John Cage among earlier poets. Among critics he admires Charles Bernstein and Joan Retallack.

About his tastes in poetry, he says, "I've been using five adjectives to describe the sort of poetry I want in, deluxe rubber chicken, the 'zine I've just started:
