Tim Gilbert, Poet/Critic

Gilbert lives in San Francisco. His e.mail address is _spoon_@yahoo.com.

Russell Edson is the one contemporary poet Gilbert mentions as important to him; among poets of yesteryear, favorites of his are Wallace Stevens, Rilke, Housman, Hardy. He considers four critics of value for him: TS Elliot, Delmore Schwartz, Ezra Pound and Robert Hass. His impression of contemporary poetry is negative: "It mostly sucks -- looking for a direction but lacking a Pound type to galvanize it." Among the poetry publications he things ought to be listed in the Comprepoetica Dictionary are Poetry and the Kenyon Review. "I like the unimportant Journal of Prose Poetry, too," he adds. Among online publications he recommends Voice of the Shuttle.
