Born in Hollywood Florida in 1961, the youngest of four children,
it was decided early on that I was the 'rebellious one' of the family. The more my folks tried to pull me back on the path of the 'straight and narrow', the more I resisted. Still, to this day, I am 'Daddy's Little Girl'. I think in his heart of hearts, he was always very proud of me for being my own person.

I am a wife, mom ( 2 sons), writer and sometimes poet. I enjoy reading, music, herb gardening, cooking and travel. I love exploring others cultures and reaching out to people. These days I live in the heart of sugarcane country on the edge of Florida's Everglades with husband Chuck and a menagerie of pets, including nine dogs, , several cats and two goats. Daisy, our beloved pot-belly pig passed on last year. D.K., another goat had to be put down.
Hubby and I own a small contracting business. I am now doing web design for a living.

I've been expressing myself in my writing since I was a young girl, but never took myself too seriously. It was my husband who started saving my work in the mid eighties, He always had more faith in me than anyone else and bought me my first typewriter in the early nineties. Anything I know about computers, I've learned on my own.

I broke into journalism quite by accident but had to sell a lot of advertising before my employer, at a regional newspaper gave me a chance. I have since been published many times. I will always be grateful to him for the opportunity. As for my poetry, family, friends and 'real-life' experience has always given me inspiration.

Still, I have gained a lot of confidence and inspiration, thanks to the camaraderie that I am finding with other poets here on the internet. Poetic Dreamscapes, although a new find, is a favorite.

Anyway, I love poetry! ..Some of the most captivating stories have been told in rhyme.. I feel that we can learn so much about each other and about ourselves from poetry. I am really looking forward to my stay here and to getting to know you all better.---The Realist
