I see --
silver outlines.
lines.masses.
flowing. floating.
seeking direction.
An assertive twinkle.
It will soon be dark.
i am a wave
going up
going down
going up
following a rhythmic motion
a disturbance
in a pool of water
going nowhere
simply going . . .
going . . .
going . . .
You taught us
high school math
long time ago
Now you're teaching us
courage
hope
and faith
It is true
what Henry Adams had said:
"A teacher affects eternity.
He can never tell
where his influence stops."
Lessons
we learned
through you
about love
much, much faster
than we learned
from you
about math
You can easily imagine
what I wish for you
on this
your 58th birthday
fast forward
to May 4, 1999
you in the USA
celebrating your 59th birthday
with your sister Emana
and Prepians of different batches
among your crowd of well-wishers
Most of these were written for Miss Flora G. Cruz. See
A
Love Story of a Different Kind to Warm Everybody's Hearts for a backgrounder.
