From: "Ana B. Urbina" <aburbina@nfa.gov.ph>
Subject: Biyernes, May 26, 2000 ang eksaktong 35 years

How about this idea? Pumunta tayo sa Diliman sa Saturday, May 27. Parang
P.E. day.
We can brisk walk or jog sa sunken garden at sa parade grounds.

We can assemble sa administration building as early as 6:00 am?

May I have your reactions?

Nag-oo na si Joey S. sa  P.E. in Diliman on May 27!

Dear Ana,
You mean Andy and I got married on our Prep class's 8th anniversary?  Never
made note of when we graduated.
Felice
- - - - - - - - - - -
Oo nga! Kaya nga hindi ako nagyaya sa eksaktong May 26
dahil hindi na naman kayo makaka-attend just like in 1998 sa Taste of L.A.

yes, Yes, YES and YEEEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!

Felix

Ana,

I will be out of the country from May 24 to 28th.  Please ask Eric to
schedule a meeting na, preferably after this date.
Thanks.

Dear AnaB,

Did not receive mail about this event. Just learned it from
Ruth when she cc'd her reply. Anyway, I am not available on May 27. We
have a scheduled concert in the evening and I'm sure I will be busy
preparing for it in the morning. Our choir director might ask for an
early call time. Thanks and hope you guys have a good time.

Dear Ana,
I am back home last May 6 and have been following your adventure at the Banaue festival.  I also saw your suggestion for the Saturday celebration at Diliman.  I am sorry I cannot go.My family has scheduled to go to Iba, Zambales that particular weekend and has been arranged even before I came home.  But please go on with the activity and I am sure that it will be a memorable and enjoyable one.

Anong isusuot?

Mila

Tatlo na kaming mag-p-P.E. sa May 27,

plus 5 girls who are attending in spirit!

dennis
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Nadadagdagan pa ang mag-p-P.E. sa May 27!

Susuotin ko yung blue bloomers natin at saka white sneakers ... kami nina
Maripaz, Ester, Delay, Rose V, Evelyn Curiano and Ging T.  Ang sarap
i-reminis, ano?  Andiyan ako enpunto..
See ya'll!!

Ilan na kaming pupunta (in spirit)?

ress
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -

May kulay maroon din na gym suit,
but I can't recall kung anong year natin ginamit. Sa first year, talagang royal blue!

- - - - - - - - - - - -
baka nuong college days, maroon ang kulay.  Hindi na kasi ako sa UP
nag-college.

ress

Dear Ana,

Hoy, sali ako diyan!...I will take the jeep from Valenzuela, Bulacan to
Monumento. Saka
Boulevard. Then,
I will take the red JD Transit bus at bababa sa tabi ng Engineering at
maglalakad papuntang
Men's pool where Mr. Torres is waiting to throw us non-swimmers into the
deep end of the
swimming pool!...Bahala kang malunod if you can not make it to the pool's
edge!
That's how we learned how to swim!

After P.E., we'll look for the turon or the bananacue vendor and maybe play
billiards or
duckpin at the Bowling Alley. I'll just have to make sure I still have 45
centavos left for the
fare going home.

See you there!

Proceso
- - - - - - - - - -

Hanip ang banat na ito ni Proceso!
- - - - - - -

Ceso,
Kami nina Rose, Maripaz,
Ester, Ging, Tessie Hernandez, pagkatapos ng PE namin (basketball or
amin. Challenge, any one??

Best regards,
ress

I wish i could go and have fun on our 35th anniv but i am in Houston. Hope you have a good time. Kamusta na lang to everybody

Evelyn Curiano

Hi, Ana B!

                                                                                        Mila

I intended to go to UP last Saturday para mag-dry-run ng P.E. day natin,
kaso umulan at tinanghali ako nang gising.

I re-scheduled it for Sunday, kaso naglaba at naglinis ako nung Saturday,
pagod na, tinanghali uli nang gising.

Anyway, at 9 am yesterday, Sunday, nag- UP campus jeepney ako from QM Circle.

Lumipat lang ako ng another jeepney going to
Philcoa,Pantranco.

May nadaanang Center for Women Studies, bago iyon, ah.

I don't believe the gym is where it used to be.

I have another weekend to do another dry-run. Gusto kong malaman kung gaano
katagal ang walking campus tour.

Ana,
I hope the weather improves on the 27th but I don't think it will
dampen the spirits from the way I have been reading the responses to that
scheme. I'll try my best to be there and by the way, I don't own a mountain
bike since I am very clumsy in two-wheeled vehicles. Maybe it is Freddy you
have in mind. By the way, is Mr. Torres still of this world? I would love to
see his swan dive again. I think he is Doctor Torres already.(Phd).

Cesar
- - - -
Ok. I remember now. I used to carry a folding bike in my car which I ride
at Bel_air village park in the early mornings I arrive in Makati. Will bring
it once I get to pump air in its long-time ago deflated tires.

Dear Ana,
As long as Andy and I are in town we will join the class early morning as you have planned.  Hope to see you there.
Warmest regards, Felice

Ana,

day.  Alalahanin ang tuhod at ang warm moments mo. Sayang at hindi ako
makakasali.
ito na ang all-occasion happening ng pamilya ko for the summer.  Kundi eh
di dalawa na tayong walking in the moonlight (ehe sunlight pala), ang
speed.

Ruth

- - - - - - - -

Exciting na! May conflict na! Chedeng vs. BMW, he., he, he!

and I think he is right!

May sports events daw doon sa Diliman from May 23-29.

It is a small place, kaya dapat daw

lutong bahay nila.

Again, may I have your reactions?

Chocolate Kiss is a nice little cafe indeed.

Felice

- - - - - - - - - -
  Luis,

Sige! Dalawang ikot sa oval. Ang manalo may date with Dexter.

Cesar

Paki-siguro
lang na may langka sa loob ha! Paki-kain na rin! Tsaka pala, may pantulak

na saging na dala ni Ceso - on our first mini-reunion (tama ba 'yon?).

sir!  No offense Cesar, pero I just go for those who are challenged!
(under dog ba ang tawag do'n?).
with her ang "Award"?

Ruthy, paki kindat na lang sa mga makikinang - when you go thru the lapidiaries
in Bangkok ('yon yata ang last stop nang bawat tour nila)   Relax lang
kayong mag-iina sa shopping!

You all have a wonderful time!

--
Daddie

Luis, dalawang ikot lang ba -- ilang kilometro iyon?  Paki-sagot, at

                                                                                    Mila

Dear Ressie,

No, you will not see me on that side of the Bowling Alley. Nandoon kami sa
kabila. If you go up to the last row of the bowling lane bleachers and look
over the ledge, you will see Ponciano "Hustler" Gonzales, Noel "Bakoy"
Plana, Elmer "Masse" Sta. Ana, Kagitingan "Pektus" Garcia, Manuel "Sure
Ball" Deus and Wilfredo "Karambola" Tenorio eagerly waiting for an open
billiard table and make upstarts like me pay for games or merienda. Madalas
kaming mangutang noon ng pamasaheng pauwi.

Best regards,
Proceso

Can I have a map to where Chocolate Kiss is located? When do we meet there?
Just being nosy...
Love Chelsea Jose

Andy is not yet sure of his Thursday-Friday-Saturday-Sunday schedule.  There may be work interfering.  Could we just take a chance and drop by in case we are free.  We can just chance it. Yung tipong beso-beso, table-hopping style.

Wish we could be more definite but this time we can't say yes or no and we'd rather give it a chance than just say categorically no.  It would be nice to see you all.

Love, Felice

Report on the Diliman dry-run last Saturday

From the administration building, walked towards Abelardo Hall, meandered sa lagoon, out towards the Eng'g Building, crossed the Beta Way to A.S., walked towards the Main Library, up the stairs, across the corridor, down the stairs, walked along Malcolm Hall and reached the grandstand of the Parade grounds.

All in 30 minutes normal walking speed!!

Crossed the street to Vinzons. Took an ikot jeepney . Isang ikot took 20 minutes, and the fare was P2.50.

Took Philcoa jeepney to get to U.P. Co-Op. Tatlong piso ang pasahe.

Had brunch of rice and kare-kare at the UP Co-Op Canteen for P30.

So, that was what I call my "one dollar tour" of U.P. Diliman last Saturday.

Kaya lang, magastos daw, kasi, no less than 5-star dapat, siempre!

- - - - - - - -
  Dear Ana,
Yun lang ba ang kundisyon ni Dexter? Sige Ana, sama ka so you can keep
score.
- - - - - - - -
you don't have to worry about me, kasi may gold membership ako doon, libre na ang aking food bill! I promise not to drink, at pasusundo pa ako kay Ojie sa crucial time, para mabigyan ko kayo ng 'privacy', he, he, he!
Of course this assumes na ikaw nga ang panalo sa fun run!

Subject: Can I please confirm kung sinu-sino ang kasali sa Lunch sa
Chocolate Kiss sa Saturday, May 27?

3. Dennis
4. Luis
5. Cesar C.
6. Gil
7. Dexter
8. Tessie
9. Poochie
10. Au (aka Yehey)

Paki-confirm today sana. I need to tell Gil how many reservations to make.
Thanks.

dear ana b.,
frank and i would like to join the group....that is, kung hindi kami matuloy sa
talisay which is where the big reunion of the 4th gen jimenezes will be from may
26-27.  matagal na itong plano and we'd like to spend time with them as after
all,  they've been spending so much time with us since frank got sick. magbabaon
na lang kami ng lunch should we be able to make it, okay, para hindi na kami
makagulo sa bilangan.  i hope though that it will not be so hot at the lagoon or
wherever we will be staying kasi nga the last time nainitan si franklin...na
emergency room kami ulit.........good luck with this activity and say hi to the
rest of the class.......can we do anything for the class for the coming reunion
in august?  we would like to help out (labor of love lang kasi alam mo
na)....kung kaya physically ....we'll share in the planning.....or
whatever....take care and ENJOY!!!
please tell debbie we send our condolence and special prayers.  i don't think we
can make it tonight.....maybe some other day before june 3.

Puede

Sige na at ingat kayong lahat.  Mag-stretching muna bago lumakad/tumakbo,

Subject: The incomparable blessing of Prep 65 class

Dear Urbs,

I went to 8:00 a.m. Mass yesterday at our Jesuit parish, Holy Trinity Church
in Georgetown, especially to give thanks for this priceless gift, and to ask
for the good Lord's continued grace upon all of us and His blessing on all
our intentions.  Needless to say, you have been a significant vessel of His
love in bringing all of us together and keeping us all in each other's hearts
and spirit.  The more I talk to others, the more I am convinced that the
probability of other groups enjoying such uninterrupted joy and oneness is
rather low.  In the language of my rather rudimentary knowledge of
statistics, it is a 5 sigma friendship!

May we continue to bask in the warmth of God's many smiles through each
other.  God bless all of us, as well as our loved ones, and all our teachers
who, in one way or another, played a part in shaping us, especially as a
class.  My personal favorites were Mrs. Goseco and Mrs. Rabago.  I also liked
Mr. Rubio a lot, a real softie beneath that carefully cultivated curmudgeonly
exterior.  I actually got to appreciate the beauty and poetry of Pilipino in
my back subject that he taught.  And Mr. Prado, who made class fun.

Warm regards to all,

Ata

I would say inimitable ataboy!

Thanks for this beautiful note to Urbs.  For me it is a prayer whose
message just might be what is in everyone's (Prepian 65's) heart.  And yes,
Ana B, Rory expressed it best.  Thank you for being you.

I'm sure our thoughts were all about home, the PE activity, etc. activities
related to our anniversary.  Last Friday, I phoned Ana B. at exactly 4:30
p.m. (Toronto time) to wake her up. Greeted her a happy anniversary, at sabi
After that I did my run -- my way of observing the
day and thanking God for his blessings. Had the chance to remind Efren when
I saw him at Metro Hall about the big day -- natuwa naman siya.

Rory, pareho tayo ng paboritong titsers.. Hinding hindi ko makalimutan si
Mrs. Rabago -- the quote from that still sticks to this day is "I don't
walk, I run." Mrs.
Goseco was always smiling and full of life.  Learning from her was always a
pleasure.  I loved Miss Crescini for teaching me Tagalog through songs, etc.
Doon ako halos laging bagsak (75), but later, I moved up to 80 +.

Anyway, just reminiscing.

Thanks again, Rory.

Mila

Siyam kaming nag-P.E. sa Diliman last Saturday
si Joey Solidum, ako, si Gil, Cesar Cifra, Felice and Andy, Luis, Pat and Franklin, in the order of appearance.
Surprise! We hope you are happy with that!
Exciting!
We had video, digital and still camera coverage of the reunion. May naka-upload nang  pictures dun sa website. Iyon ang uunahin kong ilagay lahat. Bukas na ang detailed kuwento.
Executive summary lang ito, ha?

P.S.
Yung mga nang-indiyan (anim sila), eat your heart out! Napakasaya ng reunion last Saturday! And the weather was perfect, too!
Si Debbie called me up yesterday at nakibalita. She had wanted to go sana.
Payag ba kayo, na after being the 'Rare Breed' 10 years ago, ay 'Endangered Species' (Nanganganib, o Mapanganib?) na raw ang ilalagay sa T-shirt natin for the 35th anniversary?

- - - - - - - -
Ana, Joe walked with us and Cesar walked with Andy.  Felice beat Joe to the
check on Andy's behalf.  Have sent a note to Fe Yap about endangered
species, et. al.  Hope you get Andy's pictures -- in 3 batches.  Love,
Felice

Thanks for the corrections, Felice!

I have resized all the pictures, ang gaganda, pero mamaya ko na ma--a-upload sa website, at busy ang yahoo ngayon!
You know, I went to Diliman again yesterday and walked the whole oval!  But of course I went on my 'one dollar tour' and ate breakfast at UP Co-Op Canteen with my brother.
I think I will do it every weekend!

Ana,

Ang gaganda ng pictures ninyo. Very clear, specially 'yong nasa oblation.
Hindi kayo mukhang 35 yrs. ago.  Parang ready pa ring mag-PE.  Congrats on
your idea of celebrating our anniversary with a fun walk/run and  bringing
together our classmates (kahit 9 lang kayo) there, and the others, too in
spirit.

Ruth

Dear AnaB,

I am really happy to hear that you had fun. Although I was not present
to celebrate with you our anniversary, my thoughts and my spirit were with you!
Let us now plan for our grand reunion in August and let's keep the flame of
camaraderie and friendship burning! Rory is right. Our friendship is a priceless
gift from God. I am grateful to God for being a part of our class and having
such wonderful and beautiful friends.
Since Rory remembered to mention our teachers, I, too, have some teachers
who I would like to thank for creating an impact on my values, my personality,
my life as a whole. First is Ms. Clemente, for teaching me to dance. Ms. Cruz,
for believing in my leadership and honing my talent in singing; Mr. Torralba and
Mrs. Goseco, for encouraging me to write and Ms. Garcia for her patience and
understanding, helping me make wise decisions. Needless to say, all our teachers
were all inspiring and excellent teachers and I am also grateful to all of them.

Hope to see you in our organizational meeting on June 2.
        Girlie

  Ana,

I sent our group picture behind the oblation to my friends with the
caption "Sons and Daughters of the Oblation". Maybe that's the description
we can use from now on for that particular shot.

Cesar

Subject: Kuwento ng Diliman PE last Saturday
         Maaga akong natulog nung Friday.
At about 11:00 pm, ginising ako ng tawag ni Dexter. Tuloy daw  ba bukas? Siempre kako!
Tulog ulit! Tumutunog uli ang telepono. He, he, he! Overseas wake up call from Mila in Toronto!
Naks, fire engine red shirt and maong pants  ang attire. Di rin mukhang tatakbo. Dumating si Cesar C. Ayan, naka-shorts and sneakers! Intending to win talaga. Saan nag-park? Doon limitaw sa kabilang hagdan. Mukhang coordinated ang suot, although di daw pinag-usapan. Dark blue shirts with beige pants. Ganoon daw siguro ang bagong kaka-27th anniversary! Congratulations all around.
Binigyan ng konting palugit ang mga iba. Nag-pose behind the oblation.
Anyone else who would like to order? Gil can even get a discount for us.
Noon nag-crop up ang suggested Endangered Species.
Felice pointed to the other street where the Vargas Museum is. Magaganda raw ang mga sculptures dun. Meron pa nga located sa outdoors. May kabayo akong natanaw.

I withheld descriptions of the lagoon dun sa dry run report ko, para di ma-pre-empt itong reunion. Pero ang ganda talaga, so green and so serene!

Lumiko kami papuntang lagoon. May big slabs of non-skid concrete in geometric shapes defining the path na puede mong tapakan, hindi ka matatalisod. Mas wooded na ngayon ang lagoon area. Naglagay pa sila ng rocklike chunks of concrete na puedeng maupuan around most of the trees. May nakita pa akong isang concrete table and chairs na puedeng pagdausan ng meeting under the trees. Dinig ang lagaslas ng tubig as you walk along the paths.Di ba may parang island pa at the center of the lagoon? Makatatawid na papunta doon safely. Sturdy yung wood planks, may gabay pa, na tatawiran. Felice was saying, there used to be a log then, sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not there, that one uses to precariously cross to the islet noon.

May isang big tree dun sa islet where they nailed two planks of wood to serve as a seat (puedeng loveseat). Naistorbo nga namin yung isang bata na natutulog doon when we came.
May sculpture pa ng two figures, heads side by side, looking at an open book.

You know why?Sabi ni Felice, she was part of a group that reviewed the textbooks being used in the schools, and nowhere do they define the desirable modes of behavior of a good citizen. Kailangan daw may blueprint, let's say, on how to help protect the environment, etc, by not leaving trash in parks, etc.

Naka-cross na kami to the tennis court side. nakikita na namin si Andy at Cesar, lumalakad sa tapat ng Malcolm Hall. Hinintay namin sila, tapos sabay-sabay kaming lumakad pa-Administration Building. Liko uli, sa lagoon area sa likod ng ampitheatre, dun sa sculpture ng making of the Philippine flag. Centennial marker daw iyon, put up in 1998. Picture taking uli.
Cardinal rule about sculpture: one should not paint it, recited Cesar, from our art appreciation class (kay Mrs Pangilinan, o kay Mrs Festin?) He, he, he, painted yung red, white and blue ng flag! Faded na nga.
Luis resumed his jog, dapat daw 45 minutes, and we walked on the grass straight to the Administration Building.
Tapos may huge cooler pa containing what else but the coke in small bottles, the specified pantulak of Daddie?
Inupakan ang turon! After that walk/jog? You can imagine!
Noon, ah, alam pang singko, kasi di ba nga nag-boycott pa for one day nang gawing diyes ang pasahe?
Bakit nga ba na-Jasmin si Andy from Sampaguita? He cannot remember, but Joey recalls na may incident daw na sumigaw si Aida? Bakit?
Gil, naaalala mo pa ba yung fresh ascaris lumbricoidis from the Tondo matadero?
I believe Gil intervened. Kasi pagbalik nung waiter, okay na raw, we can certainly have halo-halo for breakfast.
E di cancel out lang!
Kinain niya lang yung 2 pieces of bread, and all the sardines. O, ito, sinasayang mo (referring to the chips). Felice could only lamely reply, "Maalat, eh." "I ate all the sardines", justified Felice. Pero, ha, she also managed to consume more than half of the huge halo-halo in the colorful bowl.
Natural, kami ang entertainment ng mga waiters. Booming laughter all the way si Luis, lalo na after may mag-celfone call kay Joey. Joey  was really blushing!
Naulit yung balita about Gus being here in Manila. Batang-bata ang itsura niya, Luis kept saying.
At dahil kumakain, pagkain ay napag-usapan rin. Nag-exchange notes si Felice and Pat on how to cook turon, and also  longganisa. Yung project na cookbook should also include tips on cooking for the uninitiated, for the likes of me.
Siempre, napag-usapan ang August reunion. Felice and Andy will try to help contact yung mga hindi madaling hagilapin, tulad ni Ting.
He took really close up shots of us.
Round of congratulations uli kami.

itutuloy

You all looked good in the pictures. It made me wish I can be there for that
morning jog. I didn't get a good view of Andy and Felice. Was that Felice
next to you in the group picture captioned Daughters and Sons of the
Oblation? She looks teenie. Franklin and Pat looks healthy and happy. Pls say
hello to them for me. Cesar Cifra - tumaba ng konti, but it is becoming. Joe
Solidum looks very much like himself in high school. Louis is Loius - what
can I say? Hindi nagbago. Si Gil ang nagbago - noticeably so - mukhang tumaba
and tumaas. Did he have a moustache back then? In any case - pogi pa rin. I
really enjoyed all the pictures.
Did I tell you I can't make it to the August reunion? Dan is going to NYU in
August - and we have to take him - hakot lahat ng gamit for the dorm. We also
might be on a family trip right around the dates that you guys chose. So take
lots of pictures. I want to vicariously enjoy it.
Love,
Delay

am awaiting your blow-by-blow account of the fun run. siguradong maiinggit
kaming hindi nakaattend.  thanks again.

    Dear Ana,

mama. I think that happened during an exam na si Mrs. Cortes pa yata ang
teacher(remember Philippine Saga?)
