I will lift from Domini:
(1) VOH is the "brainchild of Ruth Callanta, president of CCT".
(2) VOH started last January. It is a "community-based child development program in urban communities being served by CCT, a micro-lending ministry. It reaches out to children who are either orphans or abandoned and to childrenh of single parents who are indigents. VOH's approach is child and family-focused, lending support to children until they finish their high school education. At present 200 kids are given financial support."
(3)"We believe that children are created in the image of God and have rights that must be upheld at all cost. While we administer the program, weekly Christian values formation classes are held where children apply Bible lessons to their lives. They do crafts, learn songs, they even have a rondalla at present which is the apple of the eye of the community. The nurturing is holistic which includes free medical services and a feeding program for malnourished children....Indeed we need to work together to defend the cause of the weak and maintain the rights of the poor and the oppressed."
(4)Ways to help VOH:
(a) ADOPT A CHILD -- P600 monthly or P7,200 yearly for 10 years so
high school is competed.
(b) GIVE TO SPECIFIC NEEDS -- medicines, educational supplies, medical
equipment, staff training.
(c) SPONSOR AN EVENT -- outing, concert, art workshop, play
(d) VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME AND EXPERTISE -- "Tell a story, show your talents,
share your joy."
