Your hair cascades across my chest
as you lay here so still.
Our heartbeats still run fast
from the love.
Few words have been spoken
for our animal instincts have guided our actions.
I rise, stand on quivering legs,
to walk to the window and
peer out at the night.
I hear you softly call my name
and feel your warm embrace on my back.
The morning will be here soon
with it's problems and pressures,
it's schedules and demands.
But tonight, I stand here in my room
with her soft body against mine
and I feel like a king.
