I find that Hardcore shows are really high energy and this show was no exception besides the poor numbers. IT WAS TOO DAMN COLD! I forgot my camera so I was toting a disposable with Bugsbunny on the front.. Go figure..
Team Craig played first and like most small venue shows the mikes SUCKED but its nothing on the band, what I could hear was fantastic and the guitar and drums were pretty good.. All the way with Stephanie Kaye boys!!!
Next played... uhhh. I think Disgruntled but you can correct me on this Chris if I'm mistaken... Anyways these guys are as good as I remember and just as friendly. There seems to be a curse over ole CP as Chris managed to break a string DURING WARM UP!!! There was no doffing of shirts down to bare skin, even in the 'warm' firehall it was still goosebump temp if you were brave enough to go skin. So Al didn't do an UGLY. I saw the play list and even got it signed by the guys but I'm not sure if they did them in that order. Which is just as well.. Even after I got it signed and stuck in between my zines and cds and other show paraphanalia I kinda lost it in the cab on the way home!! SOB!! The warm thoughts are catalogued in my brain so it's okay... I was so looking forward to tacking it on my wall though... Parting words?? OI OI OI!
Road to Shiloh were cool. Everything I was told it would be and more. The lead singer did part of a set on the floor on his back.. Made for an interesting photo op but he got his Donny Osmond tee dirty.. Awww.
Then played CP guys FROM THIS DAY FORWARD. Hardcore at it's best. High energy and redfaced they really get the crowd going especially during the audience participation bits. Adam didn't break a string surprisingly, I guess the double whammy was on Chris that night although I think Nathan broke his share of strings as well...
Parting thoughts about the show. I think Ford did a good job, despite what(and who.. you know who you are) he had to work with. I was thrust out in the cold before he showed. Something about the show "Not starting till 7!" I stared at the clock as I headed back out into the -15 weather. 5mins till 7. I sipped my coke and found that it was frozen... Its one thing about waiting outside when its June. but when it's January and its that cold?? Are you trying to KILL prospective customers or what???
So despite my frozen softdrink and my frozen pretty much everything else, it was a fine use of 3 bucks and I even picked up a split comp of Course of Action and From This Day Forward, and an endgame CD...
Seeya at the next show? I sure hope so.
