Long Weekend in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico!!!!
Here's a postcard of the tip of Baja California. The mighty
Pacific Ocean meets the tranquil Sea of Cortez. The waves crash and foam
and swirl hypnotically. I sat on the beach in the lower left hand corner
of the picture for 90 minutes watching the waves. I want to go back and
watch some more!
Here's me trying to get back on the boat that takes you
back to the marina. The beach you see in the postcard above is called Lover's
Beach. It is accessible only by boat. But there is no pier. You have to jump in
and out of your boat. The man in the foreground is one of a few who are hired by I
don't know who but they stand around on the beach helping tourists get in and
out of their boats. (If you think about the gamut of human bodies, you can imagine
that sometimes it's harder than others. . . ) Anyway, I wouldn't let the guy help
me and I totally slammed my shin. By the way, I got my hair braided the day before
by someone selling the service on the beach.
A picture of me waiting for dinner the first night (taken by my
waiter). This was a very nice, very crowded restaurant. If I remember the name,
I'll update the .html.
Me at breakfast one morning. Later that day, a man hawking silver
jewelry on the beach offered to trade me jewelry for that hat. I got a ring
and a pair of earrings for a ball cap that I got free from one of my company's
vendors. Score!
Dinner at a restaurant next to the marina. They had coffee that
reminded me of my trip to Europe! It was a European-style bistro in Mexico.
My delicious and fancy-looking entree was about ten bucks U.S. I think it was
called Antonio's. Let me know if you know the one I'm talking about.
My view from the beach. (You can see my toes in the foreground.)
The ship in the upper left was an American Navy ship in port for a few days.
Unfortunately, it was too rough for the sailors to come in for shore leave my
last night. Otherwise, I might've gotten lucky. . . ;-)
This is Nacho, aka Ignacio, the captain of the boat that brought me
to Lover's Beach. (See the first two shots.) Behind him is another view of the
tip of Baja California. To the left in the photo is South, and to the right is
North and Lover's Beach. Thousands of years of the crashing waves where the Pacific
and the Sea of Cortez meet sculpted the rock formations you see.
Me on the plane before we took off from Los Cabos Airport. I was well
rested after four days spent baking my worries away.
For another picture of me on that day, see Friends & Family page.
(Friends & Family)
Do I still look
well-rested after a plane ride delayed by the arrest of one of the passengers for
threaghtening a flight attendant? Th moral of the story is: Alcohol and attitude don't mix.
