greetings

you can go this way if you want

You are now entering the mind of a cartoonist. As yet the cartoonist is asleep and therefore this is all you can see, but there will be more, much more...

Since there isn't a lot to see yet, I suggest you go to one of these exciting places:

Before I get on to the main purpose of this page, I ought to (and shall) mention that there will be a long, long, LONG while before anything... ahem... "relevant" gets posted here. Please don't give up on us because we are disorganised. There will be items of interest SOON, I promise you with all my wallet. I have (finally) succeeded in getting Page 5 of my cartoon uploaded; a version which can be loaded a bit at a time is soon to follow. This is actually now out- of- date since I am writing a wide format version, which will also follow, and— since it is in black and white at the moment— it should be easier to load, as well. Anyway, although this isn't directly relevant to the play, it is in much the same humorous vein and has the same style of drawing as the play because I am drawing all the cartoons for it.

In the mind of a cartoonist is a play by Stephen Hancock and Andrew Wyld. It is still being written and the cartoons are still being drawn. It should be interesting in that it will combine projected visuals with more traditional actors on stage, which we hope will open new dramatic possibilities. It is about a cartoonist and the creatures which inhabit his mind. Some of them inhabit everyone's mind but because he is a cartoonist, he draws his creatures and brings them to a sort of life. This is about when they take over for a bit...

This will be a deep play. It will contain Angst and other such sundry emotional complexity. It will have Meaning. We believe that it will be set apart from other plays of its type, firstly in its content but secondly because there is a chance that as well as being stark, uncompromising, deep and challenging, it may also be funny.

Or pretentious twaddle. Depending on how you look at things.

Please come back as we promise more information in the future...

If you wish to send me a great deal of money please email me or failing that leave a cheque behind the water pipes of the right hand cubicle in the gentlemen's toilets next to King's College bar area. I am now running this page as a huge scam where people give their money believing it is going to fund Art, and so for the sake of those of you who don't already realise this I will pocket the money and make off with it and you will never see it again. If you still want to send me money, you're mad.

Well, that was worthwhile.

Anyway, although we aren't after your money we would like your support: every new play needs people to go and see it, enjoy it, perform it and so on. It also needs a script. We have to do that bit but it's a slow and lonely business so if you want to say hello, I Love You, and all round just tell us we're wonderful, then email me once again.

Incidentally, I don't write them, I just publish them on this website. Well, that's a lie, actually— I write them as well. 1
