I remember moments without a care
As I wander the desert of my heart
Trudging through the endless dunes of despair
Slipping back in sand to where I did start
At a bleak lifeless horizon I squint
A mirage ahead sails on arid plain
Limp on, past ruins red in sunset's tint
To the shimmering island far from pain
Where cinnamon scents float in night cool air
As we lay quiet beneath swaying palm
For a time, safe from burning sun's hot glare
In your arms was an oasis of calm
Though in my journey memories will fade
Always will I think of you and sweet shade
