Writing Greg
Big this comprehensive deserves a sonnet.
A poem bound by formal rules, clean
as he in its symmetry,
Pentameter, syllabics, a prescribed
rhyme scheme:
A Shakespearean model, fleshed with
him, crafted by me
Might speak to him truly, may impart
him fairly.
His skin imposed this discipline on
the muse who rules me.
His eyes, his "swol," his message,
his life:
His portrait?s caption is "Vitality."
If one aspect alone of a man ever
drew me
Through and even away from myself,
to him,
An aspect apart from sex, humor, pithy
conversations,
Abstracted in language, a mantric
prophecy
Certain to be fulfilled, an aspect
Historically proven, undeniable as
he is himself,
That aspect glows through his luscious
muscled skin,
From which power pulses, beats from
the heart of a god.
Rippling like a boulder skipping
through a pond, his energy
Charges me full with want. His skin
is a talisman that
Exemplifies the lure of a man who
eradicates walls with his will,
Whose spirit has seduced my own,
such that vital is defined by his name.
