The sole criterion of good art, in whatever form, is how deeply it exposes the authors soul.

"But surely not!", you say, "What of some one with an ugly or evil soul."

The criterion addresses the issue of "good art" not "beautiful" or "moral" art.

For example the author Gene Wolfe is clearly an author of high genius, but his works leave me depressed and nauseated. I don't want to meet Gene Wolfe. I'm sure he is a great artist. I'm also sure I don't like the view of his soul I glimpsed.
