    Hi Mr. Chaffin!

  • 1896 - 1940

    F. Scott Fitzgerald was born in 1896 in St. Louis, Missouri. He went to St. Paul Acadamy, the Newman's school and attended Princeton for a while. In 1917, he joined the army and was posted in Montgomery, Alabama. Here, he met his future wife, Zelda Sayre. However, to make money [money always impresses a girl!], he published his first novel, This Side of Paradise which became a bestseller. He was only 23 at the time. He was also regarded as the speaker for the Jazz Age.

Although things were good at first, things soon turned sour for the couple. Zelda became a schizophrenic and Fitzgerald had a drinking problem. This led Fitzgerald to rely on his short stories for money. However, these stories began to lose their appeal. Fracis Scott Fitzgerald, aged 44 died in Hollywood on December 21, 1940.
