'Rocks and bats'

Dear visitor I have a problem. I was waiting for a train
and accorss the track, beneath the platform, soot, grime and
weathering had made some real interesting patters on the
vertical concrete slabs. Actually they resembled dark airborn
caverns out of which swirled swarms of bats............
is this natural.
