Travel twelve miles South out of Aspen on Castle Creek road. On your right you'll find the Ghost town of Ashcroft, once a bustling mining community that hoped to rival Aspen some day. But lack of rail support to the mines finally saw the towns demise by 1890. Travel further down the road at the right time of year and you'll find an alpine meadow with a dusting of dusky scarlet flowers. I don't know what flowers they are exaclty but they sure look pretty.
