Das Efx

Generation Efx

grade: ++++

Generation EFX is Das EFXīs third album. First came the
so beloved album: Dead Serious, after that record debute
the group dropped the follower: Hold it down.
Hold it down were supposed to be as bigselling as the debute,
but the album didnīt sucseed as hoped, dispyte the great
features of: KRS ONE and PMD.

But here is the 15 track record that bring Das Efx back to the top.
Guest artists are: M.O.P, Teflon, Noctural, 8-off Agular,
EPMD and Redman.
If you heard the earlier recordings by Das Efx, you will
recongnise the "Diggie das" sound.
Generation EFX is not as hard as Hold it down is but
producer PMD have accomplished to combinate soft music
with mad rhymes, some rough rhymes were ready in this record.
This albums strenght lays in its variousitility, Das Efx uses
many different styles in this album.

In the song: Somebody told me, the hook goes like this:
"Somebody told me that this rap shit was fun
You get to smoke mad weed and hold big guns
Stand on stage rockin your tems with your sons
Thatīs bullshit a, yo Iīm out to get the slums"
It explains many stereotypes that the Hip hopper connected to.

The most exciting song on this album is an duet between E.P.M.D
and Das Efx, Generation Efx that is based on a sample from
"Eye of the tiger" by F. Sullivan. (The Rocky tune)

Set it off, is an excellent B-boy tune that gets your body rock.
What makes this duo so special is that they know how to rhyme
with eachother, they rhyme in eachothers mouth and that makes the
rhymes sound very fast without sounding annoing.

I really recomend Das Efx- Generation EFX for itīs quality rhymes
and good management producing by Parrish Smith, PMD of the EPMD.
