Wasn't it Good?

We bought all the latest records
Dyed our hair some funny colours
Wore wraparound sunglasses
But it didn't help our vision

We all had mohair sweaters
Wore tight jeans that fitted like skin
Didn't help our circulation
But it helped our street credibility

Bought the musics on a Thursday
Read about our favourite bands
Ordered Banshee T-shirts
But they just fell to bits

We tried to be so cool and adult
Taking pills and lots of drink
Never seemed to do much for me
Only ever made me sick

We were so confident and clever
Footloose and fancy free
Didn't care for anyone's opinion
All we wanted was to be

But now we've all grown older
And we don't do the things we did
So calm, so sophisticated
Is this reality
