It matters not what’s in the past

It matters not what someone has

What matters is what we are now

What matters is where we can go

No need for riches

No need for greed

No need for gripes and petty whines

We have each other

What else do we need?

We have our health

So many things we do not have

But can we live without them?

Of course we can, as we will see

What only matters is the

You and me

What matters is our sons and us

The material is just icing

A prize for work we do all day

But when that’s gone we will still have

Two perfect sons and each other

A family built on love and trust

Not funds and stocks and bonds

It is nice not to have to starve

But even that is done with grace

Why do we waste our time with greed?
