Suzie's World Music Page

For all you music lovers, writers, musicians...

There is so much musical talent among the friends,

that I thought it would be interesting finding those

who play instruments, write music or lyrics.

If you would like to meet others with the same interests as yourself... why not write some info about yourself, music, influences etc and add it to this page!

Michael and Patrice Gibson a.k.a. Elekoustic

MnPGibson@aol.com

My name is Michael Gibson and I do most of the composing for my group Elekoustic on various electronic instruments (keyboards, drum machines, samplers, computer music software and some guitar. My wife Patrice Gibson writes the majority of the lyrics and sings. We live in Tucson Arizona (southwest USA.

We are all 2nd generation JWs and love all aspects of our worldwide brother and sisterhood. We like to describe our musically style as "progressive soulful music without genre boundaries". Our influences are Ella Fitzgerald, Depeche Mode, Stevie Wonder, Joe Satriani plus many many more.

All of the songs available on our 4 song EP Fossil X are available for free download as a MP3 file, just go to our site at: http://mp3.com/elekoustic and click on 'save' MP3 of the song of your choice, then it will start downloading.

The Fossil X CD represents some of our older work that we uncovered from our master tapes, we reworked them then uploaded them to MP3.com.

Michelle Worrall

worrall@opera.iinet.net.au

My style? I sing with a witness band called Blue Curtain, we just do covers for witness parties. Members of Blue Curtain (All witnesses from the South West of Western Australia):

Paul Worrall, Guitar & Lead Vocalist Aaron Davies, Lead Guitar & Vocals Mark Smithurst: Bass Guitar Ian Denford, Drums Michelle Worrall, Vocals.

Apart from Blue Curtain, I play the guitar, but I hasten to add, not very well at all!! There are a couple of other instruments I fiddle with, but don't really play. I listen to all types of music, some favourite bands would be Portishead, The Moon Seven Times, U2, The Beatles, Bryan Adams. I have written a couple of songs, there is one displayed on my home page. I didn't say I was any good, mind you!!! :o)

Brian Wright

wright@jumpnet.com

Instruments I like to make noises come out of: Mandolin, various percussion instruments, keyboards, ocarina, flute, clarinet, etc, etc...

What instruments do I have?... O good-ness! Too many to list in their entirety, but here's a start...

Acoustic Guitars: Takamine, Montana

Classical Guitar: Guerrero

12 string acoustic: Epiphone

Electric 6: Ibanez (Les Paul copy)

Bass: Decca (haha!)

Bowlback mandolin

Clarinet

Shanai (East Indian double reed)

American Indian Flute

several ocarinas

Electronic devices - keyboards, drum machines galore.

Percussion: congas, tablas, gurro, tambourine, rainsticks, kalimba, xylophone, etc...

My musical tastes...

In general - I like anything "real"... I tend to shy away from overly commercial stuff. I tend to like guitars and ethnic instruments. Not a huge fan of synths unless it is used as a compliment for the rest of the music. Give me a band that is creative and produces music from the heart, and I'll probably like it musically.

Fave bands...

Another impossibility as my CD collection will attest. But some of the tops:

The Church/Kilbey/Willson-Piper, Stephen Cummings, Kate Bush, The Smiths, Einstuerzende Neubauten/Stein/Einheit, Django Reinhardt, Serge Gainsbourg, Los Lobos, Grant Lee Buffalo, Yello, Man or Astroman? (usually), Ali Farka Toure, Turkeyneck Lasso, Durutti Column

Influences and styles that inspire you to compose etc etc....

I've really been motivated by the Mexican/Tex-mex stuff lately, as well as soundtrack/instro material based around guitars. People like Steve Roach, Russell Kilbey, Ennio Morricone, Henry Mancini... great stuff that inspires me. Modern surf has also grabbed me in the last couple years.

But as far as what actually stimulates me to write music - it could be anything. Usually it is people for me... and on occasion you have to tempt the muses that be to give you the seeds of a song which is a very delicate process which could be a paper in itself. But in general, inspiration is all around us.

I have pics of my instruments (if you wannem click here:http://geocities.datacellar.net/SoHo/Gallery/7500/photoindex.html
