Sarah McLachlan:  Adia

The part of this song that most speaks to me is the refrain

"'cause we are born innocent
believe me adia, we are still innocent"

those words affected me deeply, just what is innocence?
i think of it as the pure and complete ability to be yourself, and to be happy
to be unencumbered by "do's" and "don'ts"
to be free, kind and playful
not neccessarily virginal, sex can be innocent
innocence is the ability to twirl in a rainstorm and not worry about your mascara smearing
innocence is always having a smile on your face and laughing a lot
even at the most inapropriate moments
it is not sucking your stomach in
it is the freedom to eat a pound of chocolate and feel happy, not guilty
it is doing what you WANT to do before what you OUGHT to be doing
it is everything that makes this life worth living

too few of us are innocent anymore
i want to be innocent more then anything
to be a faery-child

i'm working on it !  :)

here's the song:

adia
adia i do believe i failed you
adia i know i let you down
don't you know i tried so hard
to love you in my way
it's easy let it go...
adia i'm empty since you left me
trying to find a way to carry on
i search myself and everyone
to see where we went wrong
there's no one left to finger
there's no one here to blame
there's no one left to talk to, honey
and there ain't no one to buy our innocence
'cause we are born innocent
believe me adia, we are still innocent
it's easy, we all falter
does it matter?
adia i thought that we could make it
i know i can't change the way you feel
to leave you with your misery
a friend who won't betray
to pull you from your tower
and take away your pain
and show you all the beauty you possess
if you'd only let yourself believe
that we are born innocent
believe me adia, we are still innocent
it's easy, we all falter, does it matter?
believe me adia, we are still innocent
'cause we are born innocent
adia we are still innocent
it's easy, we all falter ... but does it matter?
