Cambridge
Film Consortium was founded in 1999, in response to a franchise
offered by East England Arts and the British Film Institute, as
a partnership between the following organisations:
- Anglia
Polytechnic University (APU)
- Cambridge
Arts Picture House (City Screen Ltd)
- Cambridge
Film Festival LTD
- Parkside
Community College
The Consortium:
Encourages an interest in film education linked to cinema screenings,
production work and other activities.
Fosters film literacy and develops links between informal and formal
education.
Ensures cultural diversity in the programming of events and activities.
Researches published materials related to film education.
Consults with East England Arts, the Film Council, and the British
Film Institute for the delivery of a regional film education strategy.
Contributes film education initiatives to the Cambridge Film Festival.
The consortium
is supported by the Film Council (through Screen East) and East
England Arts. It has links with a number of related Arts organisations,
including Kettes Yard, Wysing Arts, Britten Sinfonia, The Junction
and the Sonic Arts Network.
