Born in Buffalo, NY. Grew up on the East Side in a neighborhood called Humboldt Park. Began writing and performing poetry and spoken word through the medium of Hip Hop.
Relocated to the North Side of Chicago, IL in the Uptown neighborhood. Attended the University of Virginia. Earned a BS in Civil Engineering.
Returned to Chicago, this time to the Northwest Side in Galewood. Performed poetry on the coffee house/jazz club scene at Spices, The Bop Shop, and The Hot House. Became immersed in the Underground scene at Literary Explosions.
Left Chicago to attend Howard University in Washington, DC. Performed for venues at It’s Your Mug, The Kaffa House, Mango’s, and Cup-o-Dreams. Completed Master’s research in Environmental Engineering.
Left DC to work in Birmingham, AL. Featured by the Birmingham Arts Association. Participated in four readings at UAB. Participated in 4 Poetry Slams at Doodles; won 2, 1st Runner-up in 1. Performed for "one man show" at The Historical Foundation. Co-founded Infinite Currents in April 1998. Currently serving as Chairman of Synthesis - a non-profit collective of eclectic minds unified to foster creativity in under-represented communities via artistic events, educational programs and public service.
Writing influences include the following: Hip Hop, Reggae, Jazz, world history the relationship between man and The Most High, and an infatuation with women of color. Anthologies of poetry to date include: From Desktop to Curbside: Modern Poems for the Young at Heart (1993), Earthbound in the Cipher (1996), and Archives of the Seventh Sun (1997). Three poems recently published in Chicago Creative Movement (CCM), a magazine for Chicago's underground scene, include "Metro," "Why Do the Sexy Die Young?" and "Unity." FULL MENTAL JACKET(c. 1999) was the first published book of poetry, released in December 1999.
