The project given was to design a hotel near Liverpool. This proposal is an 'Eco-resort'.
The resort consists of several modular buildings spread over the site.
Each of these modules is equipped with design concepts, mainly passive, that make it an energy efficient building (bio-climatic).
The resort's intention is to create a general awareness in the public, above all in families, on the existence of this kind of architecture by letting them interact with the buildings, and thus discovering it's benefits (comfort, energy efficiency, etc.).
The resort is located in a green area which contains semi-dense vegetation, marsh land, and several wild animals (birds above all).
The natural materials and organic shape are meant to blend the man-made construction into this landscape as seeminglessly as possible, hopefully maybe even enriching it.
The Eco resort's main building is a place for social gathering and contains a restaurant and the offices.
This project won in an open competition organized by AsiaArch at the University of Michigan, November 1999, the first prize.
