"Xena and Ares" by Russell Rafferty

"The idea of this picture was to have both Xena, as the Warrior Princess of old, and Ares "lit" from each other to signify their relationship at the time.  You may notice, however, that Ares is more harshly affected from the light given from Xena than vice versa.  This was to signify that Xena was to break free of this spell and look to something more fulfilling, hence the distant, searching look on Xena's face."
