Rock Critters by Donna Baldwin
I am 42 years old and I have never had an art lesson in my life.
I used to dabble with painting when I was a teenager so I knew I had a
little hidden talent. Last spring(of '98) I was in a craft store
and happened to see Lin Wellford's book Painting Animals on Rocks.
I thumbed through the book and knew I had to start painting. By June
I was searching for rocks, which are hard to find in this area. I
live in Georgia just west of Atlanta. Most of the creeks around here
are small, and when you do find a good creek it's either grown up in Kudsu
or posted no trespassing. I have been painting rocks now for about
nine months and I can't keep up with the demands fron friends and relatives.
When I do have an abundance of rocks, I'll cut loose and maybe have more
available to sell to the public. I've promised my three sisters and
one brother they would all get one for their birthdays this year.
I have two to go. I am anxiously awaiting spring time and warm temperatures
and I'll be out stomping the creeks again with my dog, Coco.
