BYZANTIUM

This site is intended to help the students on Classics, as well as people interested in the history of Late Antiquity/Early Byzantium. I hve provided it with LINKS to other interesting and useful sites, which can help you in further research. Also, you can visit the gallery of ancient PERSONALITIES, take a tour of CONSTANTINOPLE , or visit ROMANIA.If you are interested in Christian art, visit the collection of ICONS.For the moment, it contains only two icons, but in time, I hope I can develop an entire gallery. You can also make a virtual tour of ITALY.For those people interested in studying the Late Antiquity, you can find a usefulBIBLIOGRAPHY,which can be used as a starting point. This BIBLIOGRAPHY will be updated periodically. There is also available now a bibliography of ARTICLES, and later there will be editions of primary sources, texts in translation. Finally, the site was provided with a BOOKSTORE which I hope to be helpful for you. Also, you can see my CURRICULUM VITAE. Usually the site will be permanently "under construction". There are now available articles on VISIGOTHS, ATHANASIUS OF ALEXANDRIA (still unpublished) and Latin TEXTS on imperial power from Ammianus Marcellinus.

There are also available syllabuses for the history of ANCIENT GREECE and ROME (in Romanian), together with the new site of CICSA (The Centre for Comparative History of Ancient Societies, hosted by the Faculty of History, University of Bucharest, in Romanian) and information about the archaeological site of DINOGETIA in ancient Scythia Minor (today Dobrudja, in Romania).
