The church of St. Sophia in Constantinople, now kown as Hagia Sophia, a Muslim mosque. This church was constructed by the emperor Justinian I (527-565), and was dedicated to the Holy Wisdom (sophia). After the conquest of Constantinople in 1453, it was transformed in a Muslim mosque by the Ottoman sultan Mehmed II the Conqueror
