Terassa
Accadia beach, Herzelia C&R
09-9597100

Atmosphere & Design - The yappi get together by the beach. Not much to look at but they do have a nice view of the sea (that is, if you don't mind sitting in the smoking area..). The beatchy hostess (a well known function in these places, without whom a yappi coffee place cannot attain its "right" crowd) is surprisingly 15 years old, yet she covers it well with an inch of make up.

Service - Slow but helpful. When my friend's tea got cold waiting for her cake, she received a new one without even asking.

Price - 57 NS including service for two teas, one cake and one "prefeccino" (details below). One could say it's reasonable.

Recommended dish - We only tried the nougat cream cake (which my friends liked a lot). The prefeccino mentioned above is actually ice coffee served in a little cocktail glass (for which you are asked to pay 17 NS).

In conclusion... An OK place to sit with your friends but nothing more. THe perfect place to take a date you are trying to get rid of. You can always say "oh man, I can't stand this cigarette smoke anymore. Would you mind leaving?"

Terassa
Food Cafe

Food Cafe
Marina village, Herzelia Pituach C
09-9514488

Atmosphere & Design - Nothing special, big, yappi. One good thing though, they have a great view of the marina.

Service - Attentive (not to say sticky and annoying). I also resent the fact that the owner talks rudely to his employees in front of customers.

Price - Reasonable (the same as all yappi coffee places of its type). About 80 NS for two cakes and two hot drinks.

Recommended dish - Better skip the hot cider (served with cinnamon powder..). The "chocolate kiss" my partner had was no more than nice and a bit too sweet. My Himalaya cake, made with coconut, nut cream and chocolate was so sweet I couldn't eat half of it (and believe me, I can eat almost anything as long as it doesn't have caraway in it). I would stick with good old plain coffee.

In conclusion... Don't expect anything and you will not be disappointed. I loved the view.

English Cake
The Seven Star mall, Herzelia C
09-9575226

Atmosphere & Design - Half bakery half coffee place, they present a great selection of what appears to be wonderful cakes (don't let the looks mislead you).

Service - Slow and tired (what is going on with today's reviews? could it be the reviewer's state of mind reflects on the waiters surrounding her?)

Price - I could not believe how cheep they are comparing to other places of their nature. I went there twice in the same week. Once we paid 56 NS for two teas (three actually, one was on the house due to the slow service) a big salad and a cake. On the other time - less then 40 NS for two cakes and two coffees including the tip.

Recommended dish - Well, the smallish marzipan cupcake (7 NS!) was cute and the avocado salad was big, full of avocado and egg and served with warm whole wheat bread and butter. My friend gilbo says her nougat cake was nice.

On my second visit there, my mom and I were just checking the option of buying cakes for a party (far too expensive for its value) and decided to stay cause i saw a cake I needed to have. All pretty it laid there in the window, a pie with thick dark chocolate and what appeared to be little balls of cream on top. After the first however, it turned out to hold the texture of an old dish cloth and the stuffing clung so hard to my teeth that it was hard for me to speak (which came as a great relief to my mother). The little yeast cheese cake she yearned for was sad and dry.

In conclusion... Why do they get a yes monkey? Cause their cakes are small and british looking and because they are so damn cheap.

As we set down on my second visit, mo mother asked for a piece of english cake (women on diet crave for the strangest things..). The horrified waitress tried each and every one of the staff to find out what an english cake is, but to no avail. When she came back she told us "are you sure there is such a thing? I thought it's just a name".

Coffee Tree
Coffee Tree
24 Weinzman st. Kfar Saba C
09-7422389

Atmosphere & Design - Three stories, each is crowded with little wood tables. The place looks cute enough, but is crowded with groups of teenagers trying to get to know other teenagers.

Service - Ranges from slow to non existent. We waited over 40 minutes for our order, even after a few threats to leave the place. Seems the waiters were more interested in smooching in the kitchen, which is all very nice (young love and all) but not when a pregnant woman is waiting for her food and two less pregnant yet even more hungry people are begging to get their drinks for the forth time.

Price - 116 for garlic bread, three coffees (two alcoholic) and one cheese platter. We left no tip, cause the deserved none.

Recommended dish - Well the cheese platter (goat cheese, all sorts of local white and yellow cheeses, rokfor and halomi) was simply huge, and made a very nice meal with the bread and all. The "specialite de la maison" - the alcoholic coffees were a great disappointment for me (coffee with rum and Muscat wine was plain lame, the Marrakech coffee with brandy and cocoa cream was better).

In conclusion... I don't really like it, but my friend does.

Cafe Verre
63 Ben Yehuda st. (Frishman corner) R
Tel Aviv 03-5242460

Atmosphere & Design - Clean and homey tunisian kitchen.

Service - Warm and polite.

Price - 74 NS for three soft drinks and two main courses. You receive a nice plate of home made salads as a starter free of charge and soft white bread.

Recommended dish - The salads were great, especially the beets and the potato salad. My couscous with mafroom (potato filled with lamb meat) was served with a large bowl of soup on the side and lots of vegetables. I was a bit disappointed at it though, since it looked so yummy and was "only" plain good. My partner had a nice hot pan of shakshuka with meat balls and was very happy.

In conclusion... A nice place for a great big warm couscous dish. Don't forget to drink black beer with your meal (a must, as I learned from the first partner).

  Cafe Verre - Clodin's cuscus
Ilan's - you can find them almost everywhere..

Ilan's
The Seven Star mall, Herzelia C

Atmosphere & Design - Christ, the stools! The stools! I was afraid I would die on one, the most shaky chairs I have ever set on in a coffee place.

Service - Quick and to the point. Don't expect the welters to smile or talk and everything will be OK.

Price - 50 NS for a personal size  pie and two frozen cappuccinos.

Recommended dish - I like their tuna sandwich. The chocolate and pears pie was nice and very sweet. They also have fun frozen coffees.

In conclusion... A good place to grab a quick cup of coffee and maybe a little snack before a movie.

Herzliya
11 Galgaley Ha-Plada st. R
Herzelia Pituach, industrial area
 09-9547854

Atmosphere & Design - A stylish french restaurant. I went there for the first time a few years ago and had a great meal (a new management has taken over the place). Very clean, stylish rest rooms (very clean too) with real towels (nice touch) and flowers. All in all - very white and fair on the eyes.

Service - Professional and nice.

Price - We tried the Friday noon business lunch (the more expensive of the two options). 100 NS per person for a starter, main course (wide verity), dessert and coffee or tea. Add a soft drink and beer to that and get 259 NS including service.

Recommended dish - I discovered new beer - Taybeh dark beer (believe it or not). It's bitter, saturating and has a wonderful after taste. To some it up - it bytes.

The starter consists of a selection of delicious pate, some salmon (rather plain), a nice green salad, warm bread and butter and your choice of either cauliflower or eggplant and goat cheese kische. We both took the cauliflower and it was delicious.

My beef stroganoff (with cream, keepers, mustard and more) was good and served with a great pile of mashed potatoes and some beautifully thin sliced carrots and zucchini. I did not like my friend's antrecott role at all. In his opinion, it was good but suffered from too little seasoning.

For dessert - a great zavione with red fruit sauce for me and a scrumptious white chocolate marquise for him (two "eggs" of  delicious white chocolate swimming in a pool of vanilla sauce, excellent).

In conclusion... The reason they don't get four monkeys is their lack of personal style. The food is very good, the service good, the place looks good. But, it does not exceed "good".

All in all - a great meal for a good price.
