My name is Angus Macleod and I have just released a CD entitled, The Silent Ones - A Legacy of the Highland Clearances. The CD tells the story (in song) of Bruce County, Ontario's Lewis Settlers. The settlers were evicted from their crofts on Scotland's I

de). Torquil Productions is devoted to preserving and promoting the Hebridean and Highland culture of South Western Ontario with The Silent Ones CD being the new company's flagship production. The Silent Ones was officially released on August 8/2000. The
D is 64 minutes in length and contains a 20 page booklet with a complete history of the Lewis Clearances plus photos. The CD was mastered by one of Canada's best audio technitians, George Graves. Mr Graves has mastered CD's by Loreena McKennitt, U2, Peter
Gabriel and a host of other world class performers. The CD features 14 musicans and vocalists. Instrumentation includes Highland Bagpipes, Fiddle, Whistle, Keyboards, Hammer Dulcimer, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, etc. Vocals are handled by myself and
two wonderful young Canadian female vocalists of Highland descent.The CD has taken me over 3 1/2 years to research and record. We have sold over 800 copies of the CD in advance of release to people from all over the world. The CD was debuted two weeks ago
at the North American Gathering of Clan MacLeod and the Fergus Highland Games where the response was overwhelming. At the Macleod Gathering I even sold a CD to Jim Hunter who seemed impressed by the enclosed booklet and said he will be contacting for an i

This site is great. I've been looking for something like this for quite a while. The only thing I'd suggest that be added is some reviews on a couple of Fairport Convention's CDs. I know there music is not exactly Celtic, but Celtic is just about the o
ly genre they could possibly fit into since there's no classification for folk rock. In case you are not familiar with their work, they're a band that plays traditional Celtic, English, and Scottish folk music on electric guitars. I guess you'd call the
a fusion band. They play the music with great respect for the old forms while adding their own personal touch.
