Clio, the fallow green cheek conure, came home with us from the pet store on February 19th, 2000. She went home to the gods on June 14th, 2000. She is deeply missed by Rob, Bo and Echo.
Clio was a wonderful bird. She was sweet and special. Frightened of people at first, she eventually warmed up to us as well as to Echo. She learned to love cuddling and getting pets. She enjoyed splashing in her water dish and getting showers, where she would try to drink the water as she stood under the spray and flapped her wings. She was sweet and quiet, never biting anyone but licking their fingers instead. She didn't even mind having her nails clipped or eating pellets. Clio and Echo got along very well. When Echo wasn't biting her toes, they liked to preen each other, play with the same toys and eat out of the same food dish at the same time. Echo misses his little playmate.
It's true that you don't know what you've got 'till it's gone. We probably took for granted that she'd be with us for the next 20 years. It's so hard to be without her.
Good-bye, Clio baby. We hope you're comfortable in your happy hut.
Just this side of Heaven is a place called the Rainbow Bridge...
