Kage/y, KG, the Spaz Cadet, "bandana/headgear girl"
Degree In: AB Communication Arts, Batch 1998. Also known as the cesspool of the legally deranged. (Ateneo de Manila University)
The Day Job: Web Editor (www.pinoyplanet.com) at the moment. But for how much longer is something else entirely. I'll get back to all of you on this when I know for sure what my new job description is… for now, let's put it at professional freelance writer for lifestyle and entertainment publications.
Role in DK: "Manager" for the group and PR person who gets us gigs and gets the word out about us. We can talk to her about anything for hours on end. Other than that, she's a totally generous and giving person even if she tries to look like a bitch.-Gwen
She's my beach bud. Zero to bitch. When someone does us wrong, the eyebrow goes up and the head tilts to the side. She keeps us in touch. She manages to keep us all together. - Cookie
Kage is the phone burner. She's Lime (coz I'm Gin), my fellow vixen. Kage is my guru in the art of flirting. She's also my "twin sister", but we were separated at birth.
- Jen
She is the logistics, executive and management head. But to me she's also "Sis" my older sister. -Liz
Dream Dance Gig: To be involved in a dance - just one dance - with 98 Degrees (Do You Wanna Dance) or Janet Jackson (any song!). Concert or video. To work with Tina Landon. It doesn't matter which as long as we're able to be part of it.
Favorite (danceable) song: Mostly the old-school R&B songs. Then those songs I dance to in my room, um, let's not talk about it anymore... haha!
Tunes into: Motown! R&B! Big Band! Actually good music is good music and I don't really make a big distinction in terms of genres. If it makes me feel good or touches me in some way listening to it then I like it (Indigo Girls!). But as a genre, the Motown (R&B technically spawned from it) and Big Band eras are hard to beat (tip: give Louis Armstrong a listen).
Turns the pages of: Gary Larson's "The Far Side" books are damn funny. "The End of the Affair" by Graham Greene is amazing. On the flip side, I love Stephen King. Good writing is good writing and I've found myself reading unknown authors and enjoying them.
Balances work and dancing by: Always making sure that no matter how busy I am, I make time to do things I love, one of which is dance. "Work like you don't need the money, dance like no one is watching and love like you'll never get hurt." Hooya!
Would really be: If I had my way, I'd be my own boss. Work with some good friends on a creative business venture. So I can write, dance with DK, publish my own stuff, scuba-dive on the weekends, just call my own shots to do all the things I love.
Loves to: Be with good friends and make good memories, write (anything from letters to articles to poems/songs), take tons of pictures, and travel.
Is happiest when: 1) Near any natural body of water, especially the beach. 2) Performing. Also whenever I'm with people I respect and love (yes girlies, I mean you).
Favorite vay-cay place: Give me the beach! Basically when I'm away from the city and all the hassles of living in such a congested, fast-paced world (this from the editor of an urban living guide). I'd also like to see the Maldives now that I have a license to dive. And take Gwen to Cairo 'cos I so know she'll flip out.
Kage's Shout Outs:
It is YOUR gift of dance that has led me to these wonderful people whose company I am blessed to keep. Thank You for the chance to celebrate Your name every day of my life.
To my Sisters … Jen, Gwen, Liz , Cookie and Kathy. I could not have asked for better friends to share this craft with. They say friendship is the dance of love. May we dance forever, regardless of the beat. (Strawberry Boone's people!)
To my Parents who might not even know about this site… for all the support and understanding of how much dancing means to me. Thanks for watching my gigs and never hassling me too much about late night practices.
To the guys in {release}: For hooking us up with gigs and believing in our talent. I can not wait to work with you guys again. Muchas thankies boys.
To the usual gang of idiots: Kisses to you all…none of them drunken. For all the screaming and shrieking even if you've seen it a million times before. Blood sometimes has nothing to do with family. (beach trip, beach trip, beach trip…)
Thanks to everyone who has been real. The world is a better place because of all of you.
