Fishing Boats There are many types of fishing boats used

The boat used to fish along the coast is usually not longer than 60 feet and until a
few years ago was built of wood. Now many are built with synthetic materials. |

| The boats used to fish the high seas are big ships.They are built using iron and are
300 feet or longer. The largest type is called a "factory ship". Scandinavian and Japanese companies use these to produce a product that is ready for market when it is unloaded. |
