Katherine Hepburn was first introduced to me by my friend, Esther. Esther's a Cary Grant-freak and likes old movies (the two go hand-in-hand, don't they?), so Esther took my sister and I to see The Philadelphia Story, starring Katherine Hepburn, Jimmy Stewart, and Cary Grant. My sister and I absolutely loved the film and Katherine Hepburn after watching that film.

I always saw Hepburn as the trembling old lady in the film On Golden Pond, also starring Henry Fonda ("the old poop"). But after viewing Katherine Hepburn at her prime in The Philadelphia Story, I see what an important role she play in and out of the film.

Katherine Hepburn embodied feminism before Mrs. Cleaver was baking cookies for the Beave full-time. Basically, Hepburn was a head of her time. She was a threatening figure in Hollywood -- the first woman to wear pants in a film. Big deal, right? Not back then. It was only proper for women to wear dresses.

She was not only a threat, in dress, but her indepence mixed with her beauty made her enigmatic to movie-goers. They didn't know how to react to their contradictory feelings towards her.

This independence and beauty is why Katherine Hepburn will not soon be forgotten.
