Hi! I'm Suzy! Mom, Arizona resident, part time student, and Co-Owner (with Rob Manderson) of MindProbes.net - the best place on the web to play trivia!
I was born and raised in Pacific Palisades, California, a suburb of Los Angeles, the youngest (by quite a bit) of two overachiever parents. My Dad was a professor of mathematics at UCLA and was one of the chief developers of "new math." (OK, baby boomers, don't shoot me!) My Mom was a physician which was reasonably extraordinary for her time. She graduated from medical school in 1947, one of only two women in her graduating class.
After leading a reasonably normal childhood, I graduated from the University of Denver with a B.S. in Psychology. Of course I never did anything with my degree but Psychology was the "in" degree at the time. After graduation, I married and went into the fashion industry, selling and modeling women's ready-to-wear throughout the southeastern states of Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and North and South Carolina. But the lure of plumaria blossoms and palm trees soon got to my then husband and we moved to his home town of Honolulu, Hawaii where I spent the next 14 years.
Those 14 years saw two divorces, three marriages and a variety of jobs from medical transcription, to the television industry, to real estate and the mortgage business. Then, about eight years ago I decided that we wanted to raise my kids on the mainland. We packed up my belonging, my cat, and my two daughters and moved to Northern California. The most wonderful thing that happened during my stay there was the birth of my son, Andrew. Unfortunately, the California economy was not kind to me and I longed for warmth and sunshine. I began looking around again and ended up here, in sunny, prosperous, Arizona although I do plan to spend part of each year in Australia.
Those of you who know me have often heard me talk about my kids. So, here they are! From left to right they are Morgan (age 12), Andrew (Age 8), and Shelby (Age 15). Also, since I often talk about Andrew's artistic ability, clicking here will take you to his own private internet art gallery. <s>
