NEW YEAR'S EVE '98/99:
THE PACKARD

Warning: This Album Contains...
The All-Stars are partying pretty hard on this little gem... What is going on here? Some of the more dizzifying pieces every put down on modern recording devices are right here on this tape. "A New Year's Stupor" had the bright idea of combining 3 conversations over atonal guitar rakes and bleeps, keeping all reason just out of grasp as the listener tries to catch a fleeting glimpse of some sort of reality in this swampy blizzard of perspective. The mistake is more or less repeated in another song when four otherwise retarded monologues are spoken simultaneously amidst some banging and yelling. Most noteworthy about this recording is Walt Meadornack's first one-on-one with the listener in "Retrospective '99." He recounts the All-Stars' theories and attitudes from the past few years and explains away a few misconceptions about the group. Monumentous.
