Lost and Wounded
(Saying Goodbye to a Friend)
You found me lost and wonded.
And I was as good as dead.
My wound, you covered and cured.
A better me, you assured.
You showed me where to go
Right from our first hello.
You cured my wound in your own way.
But like a sticking plaster peeling away,
I can feel you pulling away, honey.
Very slowly and very painfully.
Then suddenly, all of it will be torn.
It will hurt so much I will mourn.
Someday soon I will lose you
You will leave me with a map you drew
A map on how to claim my youth
And how to face the truth.
But I can't go on without my guide
I will miss you by my side.
