Born: 18 October 1973,
Calcutta; only son of Agamani and Niranjan Ghosh of Ballygunge, Calcutta, grandson of the late Rai Sahib Ashutosh Ghosh of Dasora, Dacca, and lately of New Delhi and Simla (on his father's side); and a grandson by daughter of the late Sushil Kumar Basu Roy Chowdhury of the zamindari family of Sreefaltala, Khulna, Bengal;. Married (Dec 2001) to Priobrota, only daughter of Saswati and the late Barun Baksi of Ballygunge, Calcutta, grand-daughter of the late Nagendrabhusan Baksi, C.I.E., I.C.S. (Retd.), Barrister-at-Law, of Faridpore, and lately of Ranchi, Behar; one son.

Education: 
Patha Bhavan, Calcutta; St.Joseph's Boys' High School, Bangalore; St. James' School, Calcutta (I.C.S.E., 1990; I.S.C., 1992; School Prefect); Christ College, Bangalore (Bachelor of Business Management: B.B.M., 1995; head of the Management Association, founder head of the Careers Service, and Co-ordinator of Cultural Activities); University of Strathclyde, Glasgow (M.Sc. in International Marketing, 1997; Debesh Kamal Scholarship; Scottish Trade International Prize; Postgraduate Representative, Students' Union Council).
Started career with the Unilever Group (erstwhile Brooke Bond Lipton India Ltd., since merged with Hindustan Lever Ltd.) in Calcutta as a Trainee (1995-96). Joined SmithKline Beecham (now Glaxo SmithKline) in Singapore in 1997 and held various sales management appointments: Executive (1997-98), Assistant Manager (1998-99), Manager (1999-2000) (Employee Recognition Award for Customer & Innovation, July 1999; Exceptional Share Grant as one of SmithKline Beecham's worldwide top performers, January 2000); Member, Category Management Committee, ECR Singapore (1997-99). Returned to the Unilever fold, to Unilever Singapore Pte. Ltd. (July 2000); seconded (Nov 2001-Mar 2004)  to regional headquarters as Regional Channel Development Manager, Asia; seconded again (April 2004) to Unilever Vietnam.

Re-located to Calcutta (Oct 2007) and joined
Spencer's Retail Ltd. as National Head - Space Management.

Represented University in Public Speaking; score of awards in speaking and writing competitions; written work published in professional journals and the press; broadcast on electronic media.

Recreation: Reading
(the British  Indian connexion, modern British social and military history, modern Bengali history); ecelectic tastes in the Arts, aesthetics and cuisine; Founded the Saigon Durgotsav with a group of friends (2004); Member: The Indian National Trust for Architectural and Cultural Heritage.
