pawnhouse
blisters and injuries

out before taking the big swing, the animal meets target
and clings to the bullseye
one taken in for each
thought or delivered
it quivers and shakes
shut down and turned off.
slit straight across all
opened and bleeding, stuck reading
in where there is no word and no
tongue.  sprung where wrapped around
happy and well hung
pumping the gun,
pumping the gun.
down to the knees it freezes
until frozen, imposing the will
under the position of flesh.
burnt to death,
burned beyond recognition
incision into body
injected
infected
swollen and bearing
pumping the gun.

thick ticks

time was growing wide and heavy,
     no
longer the quick, sharp movements
between the
     standards increments,
they've become broad and
slower to pass across.
measure has been forfeited
     due to
inconsistency;
the uncertainty in judging
the girth of seconds, hours, weeks.

time was gaining control and authority.
demanding to be
used, commanding
consumption.
one might consider oneself fortunate to
achieve this situation,
i, have deemed it a curse
at the present.

instead of embracing
     its swollen existance,
i have chosen
it to be an adversary.
stabbing its engorged body and
watching its blood spill vainly
upon my intentions.

morning   (for leila)

when all the other tangles
have straightened and fallen to the side
for the night,
there remains a twist.

when all thoughts and perceptions
have run their course and have given way
to the rationale of the nocturne,
there forms a theme.

use of all things human becomes
driven by duality
shared and interconnected.
from affirmation to humorous disagreement,
all comes in the early morning hours.

ideas and gestures backlit by
energies curiously propelled.
sentiment and commonality forwarded
by the lack of quality amusement close by.
a hand held in closed eyes.
words heard in the likewise
and comforting,
impressing,
hilarious and intellectual.
all comes in the early morning hours.
