Sunday, August 20, 2000 Cool Pepper's Hothouse
with Joybox, The Modern Youth Four, and Soma
The last show...ever. The other bands all sounded great (hell, I played in one of them) and we rocked it out to a tired crowd around midnight. The show ended with a big sing-a-long to "Come Home." And then it was over...

Sunday, August 13, 2000 Holiday Inn in Greentree at the Pool Bar
We played to a few parents, a couple kids, a girl I slept with a long time ago, and a few drunks. Our plan to play for 2 hours unraveled when Jeff broke his thumb at the end of the first set. So, he retreated to the hospital and me and Andy retreated to the bar to drown our sorrows in alcohol and free burgers.

Tuesday, August 8, 2000 Millvale Industrial Theater
with Blue Skies Burning, With Arms Still Empty, True Human Motive, Last Day on the Force, Sadis Euphoria
Ah, the final Melbas' Millvale show...and it turned into a good time. We all removed a bunch of clothes and played an energetic set to a less-than-energetic crowd. As for the rest of the show, well, I don't really remember it because I spent most of the time in the parking lot smoking cigarettes and drinking.

Wednesday, July 12, 2000 Mr. Roboto Project
with McCarthy Commission, Excess Enemy, Pinhead Circus, Qualm
This show fucking ruled! We played a crazy, underwear only, blood covered set and got Roboto moving like I've never seen it before. The other bands were all really good too, especially Qualm and McCarthy Commission

Wednesday, June 14, 2000 Ross Community Park
with SF Firehydrant and two more bands whose names i just can't remember
Another fun dumb night of Melbas action...We managed to offend the underage crowd (and parents!) there while somehow pulling off a decent little set...a good night was had by all...

Saturday, June 10, 2000 Cafe Au Late
with Sidewalk Berzerkers
This was the great Melbas return to action after two months off and was also the debut of our new bass player, Mr. Jeff Degenerate. We played a sloppy as hell set, but had mad phun, and that's all that really matters :P

Tuesday, April 18, 2000 Millvale Industrial Theater
with The Caddies, Bryon Gill Trio, Burgundy Jurk, and The Ninnies
Well, despite the non-existant crowd, this was a fun show. We played well and I really enjoyed the new look Ninnies. Sadly, it was also our last show with "Sexy" Nate Beatty.

Saturday, April 15, 2000 Club Laga
with Snowborne, Distorted Penguins, Sporadic, and Grand Buffet
My god, I had so much fun at this show. We played a crazilly energetic set in front of a ton of dancing kids. I just can't explain how much I enjoyed this show. Plus, as an added bonus, most of the other bands were great. Distorted Penguins played a great set of energetic ska/punk. Sporadic followed that with an awesome, trippy set of raegee. Then, Grand Buffet played an incredible set of hip-hop that was damn hard to follow. The only low point was Snowborne acting like a bunch of spoiled rock stars, complaining about the "professionalism" of the show....well, fuck them.

Sunday, March 26, 2000 Mr. Roboto Project
with Sadis Euphoria and Bread & Water
We played a really, really good set...to a crowd of about 10. All in all, though, we had a really good time. After we played, Sadis Euphoria played a truly frightening set of scream-core type metal. I suppose they were good at what they did, but I just wasn't into it. We cut out after that because I had a paper to write and everyone else wanted to get home.

Saturday, March 18, 2000 Club Laga
with Fade and All Is Not Lost
Well, we ended up being forced to play 15 minutes early. So, for the first 15 minutes of our set, we played to virtually no one. We played a decent little set, but it was hard as all hell to hear anything thanks to the "wonderful" sound work of Laga's head soundman "Deaf" Jeff. The rest of the show was good, if uneventful, spotlighting bands who play different genres of music than bands we usually play with.

Thursday, March 2, 2000 Millvale Industrial Theater
with Castaway, Misdirected, and Division Factor
Well, it was an underpromoted Thursday night show, so the crowd was minimal at best. I'll say one thing about them; they were the best-dressed crowd we've ever played to. Now, onto the story. We played a decent set, but screwed up some of the newer ones. In Mao's own words, "We just weren't as tight as usual." The crowd seemed to LOVE US though, so I guess we weren't that horrible. As for the other bands, they were all good, particularly Division Factor, a really good emo band. They also had far nicer equipment then we will ever have, knew how to play their guitars far better than I ever will, and could all sing better than I could ever dream of. :P

Saturday, February 26, 2000 Millvale Industrial Theater
with The Modern Youth Four, Gray Junk Yesterday, .45 Caliber Girlfriend, The Brain Invaders, Toxic Poop, and The Eyelids (sort of)
This show seemed to go on FOREVER. I'm starting to think any show with more than about 5 bands is just not a good idea...but back to the story. We played, by far, the best set we've played since the infamous "underwear show." We also finally played the long-awaited Angela Chase Song (which is really just called 'Angela') and even got it right. The highlights of the rest of the show were, in my opinion, the best Modern Youth Four set ever and a noisy set by Dave O'Shell, Dave Brackschmidt (sic?), Josh, and Stephanie that included a cover of the Babes in Toyland song "Handsome and Gretel."

Friday, January 28, 2000 Millvale Industrial Theater
with Gray Junk Yesterday, .45 Caliber Girlfriend, and Joybox
This show was good, really good all around and a damn good time, with fabulous vibes all night. We played a pretty damn good set, finally getting to play the main stage of Millvale as a whole band. Gray Junk Yesterday, however, stole the show with an absolutely mind blowing set.

Monday, January 24, 2000 Cool Pepper's Hothouse
with Loser's Club, On the Outside, Lankershim Executives, Plan B, and The J.D. Boys
Despite the lazy attitutes and thoughts of "why are we still having this show since the headliners cancelled?", it turned out to be a lot of fun. Our set was a little sloppy, but we had a good time and that's all that matters. The highlights of the night, for me at least, were a fabulous set by Plan B, a drunken set by the J.D. Boys, and grind dancing with Jason Dignon.

Friday, January 7, 2000 Rea Coffeehouse at Chatham College
with McCarthy Commission and The Hi-Frequencies
This show was awesome. The place was packed and the crowd was really fun. McCarthy Commission started out the show with a surprisingly good, angry set (surprising even me, the bass player). Then, we played a set that, in my biased opinion, was awesome. We even debuted (and fucked up!) two new songs, "Tonight" and "High School's Over." We were followed by The Hi-Frequencies, who played a really good, energetic set of surf rock (and even two Buddy Holly covers; anyone who plays Buddy Holly covers rules in my book...of course, my book doesn't have a lot of pages). Hell, we even made $40 on the night. How unpunk. A really fun night, though. I love playing at that coffee shop.

Sunday, December 19, 1999 Cool Pepper's Hothouse
with Joybox, Five8Five, and Tragic Drive
Well, we were a little off this night. We opened up the show and things just kept going wrong. The biggest problem was that the borrowed drums just kept falling over. After we worked out that problem though, things got better and we closed out the set with a bunch of old ones we haven't played for a while. The highlight of the whole show, though, was a fabulous set by Joybox.

Friday, December 10, 1999 Millvale Industrial Theater
with Punchline, Disturbed Youth, The Emo-tions, Shiver, Five8Five, The Ninnies, and Lankershim Executives
This was a fun as all hell show to celebrate the release of Eyesore Archive's comp "A Gallery of Thought." We played really well, wearing only our underwear.

Saturday, November 20, 1999 Rea Coffeehouse at Chatham College
with Punchline, Loser's Club, and Gray Junk Yesterday
For some reason, I really, really enjoyed this show. The whole night just had a good vibe to it. It was one of those nights that reminded me why I let rock 'n roll ruin my life. We played a pretty good set (despite our obvious lack of practice) and got probably the best response we've ever gotten.

Saturday, November 13, 1999 Millvale Industrial Theater
with The Modern Youth Four, Villian X, The Joe Pucciarelli Experience, McCarthy Commission, The Brain Invaders, Unsound, and Gray Junk Yesterday
We played this one as a two-piece, without our boy Nate. In his own words, "ICMANTPWAYCOSMFRWNUP," which is roughly translated to "I can't play tonight because I'm throwing up..." See, he had gotten his wisdom teeth pulled the day earlier. We played a brief, but fun, set.

Saturday, November 6, 1999 Cool Pepper's Hothouse
with The Hated, The Uncool, The Squares, Phil A. Sheo w/ The Goods, and Two Man Advantage
A fabulous time was had by the small crowd that showed up for this one, which featured utterly INSANE performances from Phil A. Sheo and Two Man and great performances from the other bands. We played really well, other than a brief period where I nearly passed out during "Abercrombie Kids" because I was really sick. No matter, the show went on, and it was a great time.

Friday, August 20, 1999 Ellias Fry Barn at Knob Hill Park
with The 800 Brigade, Gray Junk Yesterday, Squeege, and a bunch of hippie bands
This show was a disaster...an utter disaster. The hippies who set it up apparently forgot that you need to tell people about shows. Thus, the turnout was non-existant. We played a technologically plagued set in front of about 6 people. Absolutely everything that could go wrong went wrong....broken bass string, broken pedal, insane amounts of feedback. Despite all this, our set wasn't half bad, but wasn't memorable either. The show is only notable as our only show with lead guitar player Chuck Jacob.

Sunday, June 6, 1999 Cool Pepper's Hothouse
with The Eyelids, The ReJX, The Joe Pucciarelli Experience, The Broken, and High $ociety
We played really well, but something about this night just didn't click. There was one hell of a clash of styles, ranging from pop punk to dissonant noise rock. All the bands were really good, though.

Thursday, May 20, 1999 971 Perry Highway (Beejay's garage)
with On the Outside and Loser's Club
A Thursday afternoon show during the school year in a garage...yup, you guessed it, NO ONE showed up. We played a spirited set to a crowd of 9 (including the six members of OTO and Loser's Club, Adam Social, the old singer from the Hated, and Corrie). Afterwards, everyone went to Denny's. Punk rock...

Saturday, April 17, 1999 North Hills High School
with The Joe Pucciarelli Experience, The Broken, Lunacy, Fade, and a band whose name I can't remember for the life of me
We played this one for North Hills' Earth Day Festival. It was also our first show. We played an abysmally long set, but it went over really well.
