Forever Once

This poem is dedicated to the memory of Alfred Lord Tennyson, who was so gallant, even on the highest plains of society with such boldness to reveal his deep heart. In doing this he became a conqueror, in that his strength was built of weaknesses that set his soul upon the calm waters of peace within. His love of humanity with "In Memoriam", one of his most painful and finest works, has shined forth even more so today for those who seek this depth. As the love of man grows ever colder, his deeds have followed him.
Forever once, before I knew
The breath of all to come to pass
Of embers flamed by winds that drew
My kindled soul to share, Alas
There once, a poet dear to me
Who touched of summer's warm embrace
Who shared in truth so tenderly
Of Love that takes me to this place
Of love beyond the carnal, torn
Divine, if could this "dust of earth"
To speak as one . . . as one who's born
Through living eyes of this new birth
A place in time where flowers bloom
With music singing Life . . . each note
Yet silence filled his quiet room
To bring forth what Sir Alfred wrote
The moment that she smiled I thought
As I recalled one summer's day
I held a butterfly I caught
That has been long since flown away
"'Tis better to have loved and lost,
Than never to have loved at all"
I say, "This river, whome'er did cross,
Forgets of not her gentle call"
But now I see much deeper than
I thought could ever be so real
Of what I held once in my hand
I cannot of my heart conceal
I shall esteem his words a sage
That warms the hearth thereof my soul
As winter turns this final page
I've found that Love has made me whole
Sincerely now I shan't deny
As I have viewed here of this while
The joy, the sparkle in her eye
Has warmed my heart to see this smile
Though perfect not, yet still we learn
As hindsight stays it's place in view
Of God's good gift in man to yearn
The Deepest Breath . . . Sweet Love Pursue
This splended orb of Light has kissed
The purest thoughts I hold so dear
Her voice, her words . . . now as a mist
Have left me with this welcome tear
The essence of her soul had caused
The mirror of my heart to glow
As if someway that time were paused
To bring back once what I did sow
Could this be wrong . . . Sweet days I miss
The beauty of her wings I heard
Of laughter born before a kiss
That I reveal now in a word
To taste the words of he, our friend
To touch beyond of seeing eyes
Forever once, this veil within
Of pure in Heart . . . Love Never Dies
Amen
