I have created a web site to showcase some special work of my grandfather, William Weremeichik. While he was serving in Africa during World War II, he sketched a series of pictures. The scenes are real, the places were real, and the circumstances were real. He told me they were not in any heavy combat, as was the case in other countries during the war, but I will let his pictures do most of the talking. My "gramps" had these pictures folded up in an envelope in his nightstand with some other things like birth certificates, death certificates, pictures, etc. He explained them to me on a couple different occasions. I began designing the web site with his permission a few months ago. I would print out some of what I had done to show him what it would look like...he would correct of few of my mistakes, and explain even more details which had left out earlier. On Labor Day weekend of 1999, my grandfather passed away. He had cancer and was in a tremendous amount of pain. In some sense I wonder what was worse for him, the war, or his cancer. Anyway, I finished the site within the past couple of days, and I certainly dedicate it to him. Click on the button below to see through his eyes.
