This card depicts a strong-faced mature man, complete with a full mane of thick hair. His ability to reign and to rule is not to be doubted, and, to underline the point, his shirt has a sun stretching from his solar plexus to his heart.
In actual readings, he often emerges as a kindly figure, with his "heart in the right place", but also as a bossy, dominant figure, tending to assume that he knows exactly what is best for his loved ones, especially his wife and children. This is a quality that may be resented by an equally strong-minded type, but others may in time tend to rely on his leadership qualities rather too much, ultimately finding themselves to be totally lost without him.
The arrogance of this character, however, is more often than not offset by his exuberance and warm-heartedness; he tends to be as giving and generous as he is self-centred.
The King of Wands brings enthusiasm to every project encountered. It should be borne in mind that this character does like to be appreciated for his contribution and efforts. It can sometimes be a mistake to neglect his ego; negatively, this card may indicate a boastful, overbearing and wasteful character.
This card may depict an individual who displays little fear in making decisions which may affect the lives and destinies of others; he may, therefore, for both sexes, indicate the qualities needed for a good judge, social worker or youth counsellor (this king may retain a strong affinity with youth whatever his age). His intuitive ability for getting to the essence of a situation means that his judgements are often very accurate, no matter how quickly formed.
