QueenofWands
Queen of Wands

This card depicts a most forceful character; her ability to take the lead in most situations equals, or even surpasses, that of the King. The Queen of Wands can be tough-minded and outspoken, and may be somewhat formidable. As an individual who does not like to feel powerless or humiliated, she may be high-handed or vindictive if crossed.

She may have enormous reserves of vitality and is not afraid to own the animal sources of this vitality - hence the presence of the cat (in many decks, her legs are often apart where she is shown to be sitting); also her wand is a definite branch, showing her connection with the life force.

The Queen of Wands, with the cat symbolising her attunement to instinctual forces, can, therefore, be seen to possess a considerable source of wisdom. Readers of this pack are welcome to see her as being somewhat "witchy" if this is so desired. The cat then becomes the Queen of Wand's familiar, suggesting that she has a gateway to realms above and beyond the five senses as these are normally perceived.

As someone so intimately connected with the powers of the life force, the Queen of Wands, like the King, is an excellent organiser, naturally blessed with the powers of leadership. This means that, like the King, this character may attract weaker personalities who do not possess the courage or the conviction to "shine" in their own right. The temptation is then for this Queen to misuse this power, not least so that these underlings might bolster her ego.

Either way, this Queen may also make an excellent salesperson; at her best, she may be well able to nurture and bring out the best of the potentials in others - even if this may mean a little bullying.
