I love the Egyptian love poems! They are so beautiful!
The Egyptians called their beloved sister and brother, so that is what those words mean in these poems.
"Beginning of the Words of the Great Bringer of Joy to the Heart"
The One and only sister, without compare
More beautiful than all women.
Behold, she is like the Star-Goddess appearing in glory
at the beginning of a happy year;
Luminous and perfect, with gleaming skin;
Lovely are her eyes when she glances,
Sweet are her lips when she speaks
And her words are never too many.
Her neck is long and her breasts are radiant,
The sidefall of her hair is blue-black.
Her arms surpass the brilliance of gold,
And her fingers are like lotus blossoms.
Her buttocks curve down languidly from her trim belly,
And her tighs are her beauties.
Her bearing is regal as she walks upon the earth.
She has captivated my heart in her embrace;
She causes the neck of every male
To turn and look at her -
Joyful is he who embraces all of her -
He is the very prince of lusty youths.
See how she goes forth -
Like that one and only goddess.
The voice of the wild goose shrills,
It is caught by its bait,
Love for you pervades me,
I cannot loosen it.
I shall retrieve my nets,
Buy what do I tell my mother,
To whom I go daily,
Laden with bird catch?
I have spread no snares today,
I am caught by my love for you.
