Background

Some people have asked me to post this type of page,

The gods only know why....

Seriously, for those who are interested,
here is a very brief discription of how I got started.

Train Train If you've visited the Early Archive, you can see that I've been drawing pictures from the day I could hold a pencil.

As far back as I can remember; if I saw something and wanted to, I could draw it.

Throughout childhood I played with pencils, pens, markers, and a little painting, and for the most part stuck with traditional media.

Oh god..... me again! I found early on that I had a strong love for realism, especially superrealistic work, and for the longest time had a very hard time finding a style that was "good enough".

Unfortunately, because of this, I never really pursued any one style or art form throughout childhood.

But at the same time, I was always creating something.

In the Army now...... After High School, I enlisted in the army as a medic, but during my 3 years in Germany I was re-assigned as my Battalion's Illustrator.

I served this position for almost 2 years, mostly doing large charts and maps (and things I can't discuss), and earned "Army Illustrator/Draftsman" as a secondary job title.

Playing at a sidewalk show... When I came home, I began to work more seriously at my artwork.

I became interested in airbrushing, and it wasn't long before I bought myself a cheap airbrush, small compressor and some paint.

5 years later, I had over 150 paintings to my name, 3 very nice quality airbrushes, and a small studio in my basement to work in.

Goodbye Narn Warship.... But it still was never "good enough". Until I discovered, almost by accident, a television series that would forever alter the direction of my art.

That show was J. Michael Strazinski's "Babylon 5", and when I saw for the first time what a computer could do, I knew my life was never going to be the same.

My biggest critic And now, almost 6 years (and an awful lot of work) after that moment, I sit here at my own computer, rendering with my own copy of Lightwave wondering what the future holds next.

...and so far, the future looks GOOD!
