Located in the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial Park of St. Louis, Missouri on the banks of the Mississippi River. Construction started in 1961 and was completed in 1965 and cost $30 million. It's dedication was in 1966. The tallest memorial in the nation stands 630 feet high from a 60 foot foundation and a 630 foot span at the base. Two trams can be taken to the top of the Arch where there is an observation area. In a 20 mph wind the top of the Arch sways 1/2" - 1".
Located directly below the Arch is the Underground Visitor Center and the Museum of Westward Expansion.
