"THE OLD COURTHOUSE"
is located in Jefferson National Expansion Park.
The original courthouse was built in 1826 and the
existing building was started in 1839 and finished
in 1862 after several modifications over the years.
Two of the many important trials held here were:
Dred Scott's fight for the freedom of slavery
Virginia Louisa Minor's fight for the right to vote.
The photo was taken from the observation area
atop the Gateway Arch.
